High-speed medical diagnostics

Turning a complex instrument into a product-development system.

The challenge

A high-speed antibiotic susceptibility diagnostic platform combined precision motion, thermal management, sensing, embedded control, board bring-up, diagnostics, assay constraints, manufacturing needs, and regulated product development.

The work

I led embedded systems and firmware execution while remaining hands-on with real-time architecture and control. The job required constant translation across firmware, systems, hardware, assay, manufacturing, quality, and product priorities.

The result and lesson

The work advanced a technically demanding instrument toward product readiness and reinforced a recurring truth: in multidisciplinary devices, the firmware team cannot merely “own the code.” It must help own the integrated behavior of the machine.
